The Java Developer Relations Team Around the World |
Here are some highlights from the Java Developer Relations team, whose members have been busy meeting with the community around the world at JUGs and at Java conferences.
JavaZone
In September at JavaZone Oslo, José Paumard presented Are Virtual Threads Going to Make Reactive Programming Irrelevant?
J-Fall
At J-Fall in the Netherlands this month, Sharat Chander presented a session on the 30 years of Java, Ana Maria Mihalceanu, presented on Monitoring Java Application Security with JDK Tools and JFR Events, and Nicolai Parlog presented on Java 23 - Better Language, Better APIs, Better Runtime. See session descriptions.
JCConf & TWJUG
At JCConf Taiwan in September, 450 developers gathered to hear 35 speakers for the annual Java conference there managed by the Taiwan Java User Group (TWJUG). José Paumard delivered the keynote on the latest technologies in Java, and Jim Grisanzio presented a community session on contributing to FOSS. After JCConf the following day the TWJUG also held a user group meeting in Taipei, where Jim also ran a session on contributing to Java highlighting the Japan Java User Group. Here are some images.
JJUG CCC
The Java Developer Relations team and the Oracle Java and GraalVM teams in Tokyo collaborated again to sponsor the Japan Java User Group's (JJUG) semiannual Cross Community Conference (CCC) in October, which drew about 850 developers from across Japan. Here are some images. |

The Power of Java User Groups |
Join a JUG! Start Contributing Now! |
We've always recommended that developers join and contribute to Java User Groups (JUGs) in their local area. That's the best way to start contributing and learning and leveraging the community as it grows. We have nearly 400 JUGs listed on our website and we continue to add them as we find them. If you start a new JUG and would like us to list your community on our site, give a ping!
JAVAFEST 2024
And as a reminder of the power of JUGs and their ability to collaborate, check out JAVAFEST'24 in Bengaluru, India.
Every year eight India JUGs gather and organize a community conference for developers to discuss the latest in Java technology. At this year's event in November, Praveen Mohan, Director of Java Quality and Infrastructure at the Oracle India Development Center (IDC), delivered the opening keynote.
Also, several engineers from the Oracle IDC contributed technical sessions. Back in June 2024 Praveen was a guest on the Duke's Corner Podcast where he talked about his team's involvement in the community and with JAVAFEST — check that out to understand why the community is so important to Java engineering teams at Oracle.
And More ...
There are many other examples of JUGs around the world that collaborate on events or grow so much that they host their own annual conferences, such as JavaZone, J-Fall, Jfokus, Devnexus, and others. So, get involved! Start learning! Start contributing! And become part of our growing Java community. |
